An extensive two-month voyage through the Australian Coast is being halted days after the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was abandoned by the vessel on a remote coastal location.

Suzanne Rees had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the excursion for a rest. The vessel departed without her and returned after some time after the ship staff realised the lady was missing.

A major rescue mission discovered her body the following day.

Officials are looking into the event, alongside law enforcement and the official investigator.

Head of the cruise operator said that passengers and crew on the ship were notified that the remainder of the journey had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and previous mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he further stated that passengers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to arrange the travel back of the individuals via chartered flights".

Authorities also released an latest announcement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Captain" preventing any additional guests from getting on the liner.

The official said that they would attend the vessel in Cairns upon its arrival.

The liner originally sailed from the Australian port on 24 October, and was merely two days into the journey at the point of the 80-year-old's death. The remote island was the opening port on the voyage.

Travelers on board - who typically pay large sums of dollars to participate in the expedition - were taken there for a daily excursion with the choice of walking or underwater exploration.

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "stunned and saddened that the liner left the location after an organised outing without my mother".

Via her announcement, she characterized her parent as an "energetic elderly person" who was a affiliate of a hiking club.

"From the little facts we have been told, it appears that there was a breakdown of attention and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She added that she wished the inquiry would be able to determine what "the organization should have undertaken that might have protected Mother's life".
