Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
