A woman indicted with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly left her a recorded message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has persistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard phone records and evidence obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most covered missing child cases and continues to be unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another voicemail, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine was, but I know what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am she? Then what? Is that not important for you?"

"I do not need money, I maintain a existence here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the recording stated.

The tribunal was told that via electronic messages, SMS messages and calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, sent early photographs to her phone in a effort to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who gathered the data, told the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also contacted family friends of the McCanns, based on the phone records.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail stating "I won't give up and I plan to establish my position."

The court learned the co-defendant developed a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in that area in that winter.

Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out through messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be taken seriously in the time preceding the visit to Rothley, that area, in that winter.

The court heard message exchanges between the two individuals, in November 2024, planning trying to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from cutlery at a dining venue.

"We have to take action," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the visit to their residence, the defendant dispatched a communication which stated: "We find ourselves sat near the McCanns' home with our headlights off resembling investigators. I desired to do this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."
